SA businesses set to sign up to Earth Hour

The Adelaide City Council is challenging South Australia's business community to go green this month in a united fight against climate change.

Lord Mayor Michael Harbison is calling on at least 500 businesses to sign up to participate in Earth Hour 2009.

"South Australia's businesses are cutting edge in a number of ways, and now it's time for us to show the world how bsuinesses can join together and make a difference by turning off our lights and appliances en masse for Earth Hour 2009" said the Lord Mayor.

"With 63 participation rate in Earth Hour last year, Adelaide had the second highest participation rate in the country, so its important that we make an even bigger effort this year to beat that figure.

"While 500 businesses is an ambitious target, it can be achieved - and offers an ideal opportunity for businesses to show their commitment to tackling climate change" he added.
